Most websites are rubbish. Make sure yours isn’t one of them.

How can you be sure your website isn’t rubbish?
Your website might be beautifully designed, use cutting edge technology and come up on the first page of Google - and still be rubbish!
But surely great design + great functionality + great SEO = great website? Not necessarily. Here’s why…
Most websites are built by graphic designers, web developers or SEO experts, and whilst all of those skills are needed to make a great website (well, the first two anyway – the third just makes sure people see it), it’s simply not enough.
Graphic designers are obsessed with image and detail, and the best ones will build you a site that looks beautiful, has great pictures and uses clean, consistent typography. They’ll make sure that whatever text and pictures you give them are well laid out.
But they won’t help you define your target market.
Web developers love order. They’ll make sure that your site is brilliantly structured and compliant with all the relevant standards. You’ll get more TLAs (three-letter-acronyms) than you can shake a stick at (PHP, CSS, ASP) and your pages will load lightning-fast.
But they won’t craft persuasive messages that convert your visitors to enquirers.
SEO experts (That’s Search Engine Optimisation, TLA fans) will fill your pages with keyword-relevant text and make sure your XML sitemap is registered with Google, Bing and Yahoo. They’ll make sure your site features high in the search engines.
But they won’t help you turn enquirers into customers.
So what makes a website truly great?
One that starts with the end in mind.
It sounds simple, but many companies and organisations have a website built before they’ve really thrashed out what they want it to do for them. That’s why you need your site built by a company that also build brands. A company with a solid track record in marketing communications that really work. A company like us.
When you’ve got a remarkable brand that you can be proud of, you’ll know exactly what your key messages are, who your target market is, and precisely what you want them to do.
Then we can combine that with the digital Holy Trinity of great design, great functionality and great SEO, and you can be certain that your website isn’t rubbish.
