We’ve seen it so many times before – small businesses that have a cracking set of services and skills, but their photography really lets them down and under sells what they can really do. Whats more, they come across as unprofessional.
Take The New Driveway Company for example
When we started working with them to rebrand the company, we were working with a set of images they really under sold what they can do and didn’t reflect the quality of their craftsmanship. It lacked any element of what their client would be interested in – an improved lifestyle, a grand entrance to their home. They took the images using a mobile phone and failed to document the project, meaning case studies would be difficult to create.
Using a photographic style that illustrate an enhanced lifestyle, made New Driveway’s proposition much more appealing. What’s more, the customer could relate to the imagery, it would illustrate an lifestyle they are looking for.

Using models in your photography
Using models in your photography would further illustrate an enhanced lifestyle. Models that reflected the sort of customer you are appealing creates a lifestyle that your customers can relate to.
When we rebranded Oxford Garden Lighting, this had very much been our intention. Using models in a lifestyle style photo created ambiance, a feel of what it would he like to have an Oxford Garden Lighting garden. You can read about our rebrand for Oxford Garden Lighting here.
Using a professional photographer
We strongly suggest you put together a photoshoot plan of the style of images you’d like, and show them to a professional photographer. Think about what appeals to your customer, what you are trying to communicate to them and follow a consistent style.
If you are looking for a professional photographer, we suggest Jackie Cross – she’s fantastic and we’ve worked with her many times.
